Jacob & Esau – Episode 2: The Blessing Heist

Years passed. Esau had long forgotten the deal he made when he was starving. Jacob hadn’t.

Now their father, Isaac, was old. His eyesight had faded, and so had his strength. He knew his time was short.

One day, he called for Esau.

“Go hunt, make me my favorite meal, and I’ll give you my blessing before I die.”

Esau didn’t hesitate. This was the final blessing—the one that sealed his inheritance, his destiny. He grabbed his bow and ran out.

But he wasn’t the only one listening.

Rebekah heard everything. She rushed to Jacob, eyes blazing.

“Your father is about to bless Esau. But we’re going to make sure you get it instead.”

Jacob froze. “Mother, Esau is hairy. I’m not. If he touches me, he’ll know it’s me! He’ll curse me instead of blessing me!”

Rebekah wasn’t worried.

“Let the curse fall on me. Just do what I say.”

She worked fast. Cooked a meal just like Isaac liked it. Took Esau’s clothes and dressed Jacob in them. Then she did something extreme—she covered Jacob’s arms and neck with goat skin. Esau was hairy, but this? This was next level.

It was time.

Jacob walked into his father’s tent, heartbeat hammering in his chest.

“Father.”

Isaac stirred. “Who is it?”

Jacob took a deep breath.

“I am Esau.”

A pause.

Isaac frowned. “Come closer.”

Jacob stepped forward. Isaac reached out, his fingers brushing against Jacob’s goat-skin-covered arms.

His brows furrowed.

“The voice is Jacob’s… but the hands are Esau’s.”

Jacob held his breath.

Isaac sighed, finally relaxing.

He ate the meal, then stretched out his hands.

“May God give you heaven’s dew, earth’s riches. Nations will serve you. Your brother will bow to you. Those who curse you will be cursed; those who bless you will be blessed.”

It was done.

Jacob exhaled, stepping back. He had won.

And just in time.

Because moments after Jacob left—Esau walked in.

“Father, I brought your meal. Bless me!”

Isaac froze.

“Then… who was just here?”

Realization hit like a thunderclap.

Esau’s scream shook the tent. “HE STOLE MY BLESSING!”

Isaac trembled. “I cannot take it back.”

Esau clenched his fists, his face dark with rage.

“Fine. He can have the blessing. But I’ll take something else—his life.”

Jacob was out of time.

Rebekah rushed to him, stuffing supplies into a bag. “Run! Go to my brother’s house. Esau is going to kill you!”

Jacob ran. His past, his choices, and his brother’s fury chasing him.

And for the first time in his life… he had no idea what would happen next.
